Chel White began directing television commercials over 12 years ago. The work he has done in the commercial realm reflects his belief that the medium can be an art form.

"Park" and "Rec Room", public service ads for the Washington Dept. of Health, are two of Chel White's favorite commissioned pieces that he directed. These children's anti-smoking ads can be viewed at:

  Early in his career, White directed a public service ad for Memorial Blood Centers in the Twin Cities. The ad was cited by Adweek as one of the best spots of the year, and featured his original photocopy animation technique.
 

Chel White's ad for Fila shoes won a Clio Award, was included in the A.I.C.P. show The Art of the American Television Commercial, and is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. A recent ad White directed for OfficeMax is also in MoMA.

Commercials White directed for Lugz shoes were shown in the 2001 Annecy Festival of Animation (France), and received kudos at the 2001 British Design & Art Direction Awards.
 

Chel White's commercial clients include Reebok, Adidas, Lux, U.S. Postal Service, OfficeMax, Washington Dept. of Health, Oregon Lottery, The Learning Channel, Turner Networks, Cartoon Network, Fila, Coors, and Coca-Cola.
